The question now was who would replace THOLIN as Mayor. In this war period, such a decision was taken by the Prefect.

We know that from the time of his death to the funeral, there had been no official meetings of the Municipal Council. We also know that the Sous-Prefet attended the funeral, and we also know that all the members of the Municipal Council agreed on the fact of who should be named the new Mayor.

0n 29th March 1943, the Sub-Prefect sent his recommendation to the Prefect – the new Mayor of the Commune should be Charles Arsène MARIZY.
